At the national level, Uzbekistan is strengthening measures to preserve the environment and ensure reliable information on its state, as enshrined in article 49 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan. In this context, the Act "On the Accession of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Convention on Access to Information, Public Participation in Decision-Making and Access to Justice in Environmental Matters" (Aarhus, 25 June 1998) was adopted. This document was signed by the President of Uzbekistan on 11 March 2025 under No. 1045.
For reference: This Law was adopted by the Legislative Chamber on 11 December this year and approved by the Senate on 22 February.
It should be noted that the document was adopted in accordance with Article 49 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan, which states that everyone has the right to a favourable environment and reliable information on its condition.
The accession of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the present Convention serves to ensure the honourable safeguarding of human rights and freedoms in the field of ecology and the environment, the implementation of joint efforts with foreign partner States to achieve environmental security, and the further enhancement of the positive image and prestige of the country in the international arena.
