The 5th session of the International Conference on Chemicals Management (ICCM5) took place from 25 to 29 September 2023 at the World Conference Center Bonn (WCCB) with a High-level Segment (HLS) on 28 and 29 September 2023.
ICCM5 organized by UNEP and by the government of Germany.
The fifth session of the International Conference on Chemicals Management (ICCM5) finished with a historic and successful outcome, adopting:
- Global Framework on Chemicals – For a Planet Free of Harm from Chemicals and Waste;
- Bonn Declaration – for a Planet Free of Harm from Chemicals and Waste;
- Global Framework on Chemicals Fund, and a set of other Conference resolutions focused on the implementation of the framework.
The new Global Framework on Chemicals, adopted by the ICCM5 in Bonn in 2023, provides a vision for a planet free of harm from chemicals and waste, for a safe, healthy and sustainable future – where industry and private sectors are strategic actors to foster innovation, move towards sustainable business models and drive change. It is backed up by a High-Level Declaration that provides the political drive for its fast implementation and reminds stakeholders commitment to actively promote and support transitions to circular economies.
