A meeting was held at the CSAC under the Ministry of Ecology with Mr. Mohammad Nazem Shirazi, an FAO international expert on laboratory infrastructure.
The meeting agenda included discussions on strengthening the country's institutional and technical capacity in the safe handling of hazardous chemicals, particularly with regard to the detection and monitoring of pesticide residues in environmental samples.
The meeting also addressed determining the direction of specialized technical support and staff development programs in accordance with international standards such as ISO 17025 and FAO/WHO standards (Codex Alimentarius).
The visit of the international expert was organized as part of a project between the Ministry of Environment and the FAO, funded by the European Union, titled "Technical Assistance for Sound Management of Hazardous Chemicals."
